BookSmart Tulsa, Tulsa Artist Fellowship and The University of Tulsa Department of English are hosting the event. Jeff Martin, the founder of BookSmart said, “I’ve been trying to get Tom to Tulsa for well over a decade. I’ve been a fan since I was in high school. And that relationship has matured as his work has progressed. Tom writes books about how we live now. Who we are. He has tapped into that same thing Jane Austen and Charles Dickens found. A way to express the human condition through words. It’s a gift.”

Ranging from topics on high school student council elections to an apocalyptic world, Perrotta has written five other fiction books: Bad Haircut, The Wishbones, Joe College, The Abstinence Teacher and Nine Inches.

Assistant Professor of Creative Writing-Fiction, Keija Parssinen said, “He’s a huge talent whose books quickly become a part of popular culture, and I’m sure students will enjoy talking with him about his writing, as well as the movies and TV shows that have been made out of his books.”
