Submission Guidelines

The Voice Flash Fiction Contest
For this flash fiction contest, Nimrod International Journal and The Voice, TulsaPeople’s arts/entertainment and culture section, will select one first-prize winner from the Tulsa area.

Prize amount: $150. The winning work will be published in the April issue of TulsaPeople. Honorable mentions will be published online at a rate of $30 per piece.

Submission deadline: February 7, 2020.

Submission Guidelines 

  • Each piece of fiction may be no more than 500 words long.
  • Writers must be living in Tulsa/the surrounding area or have strong emotional ties to Tulsa to enter.
  • Work submitted must be previously unpublished.
  • Writers may submit up to three flash fiction pieces at a time.
  • Work may be in any style, any genre.
  • Identifying information should not appear on the manuscript. Please provide your name and contact information in the cover letter only.

The Voice Poetry and Flash Fiction
Submission Guidelines


Nimrod International Journal 
is now selecting flash fiction and poetry by Tulsa-area writers for publication in The Voice, TulsaPeople’s arts/entertainment and culture section.

Submission Guidelines

  • Each piece of fiction may be no more than 500 words long.
  • Each piece of poetry may be no more than 40 lines long.
  • Writers must be living in Tulsa or the surrounding area or have strong emotional ties to Tulsa to submit.
  • Work submitted must be previously unpublished.
  • Writers may submit up to three flash fiction pieces and/or three poems at a time.
  • Poetry may be in any style, and fiction may be in any genre or style.
  • Selected work will be published online and/or in print, with payment of $30 per piece.
  • Work should be submitted via Nimrod’s online submission form.
