Communication Hall of Fame welcomes Michelle Beale

Body-Beale-CommHoFUniversity of Tulsa Trustee Michelle Beale (BA ’66, JD ’77) has been inducted into the TU Communication Hall of Fame.

Beale grew up in Tulsa and attended Daniel Webster High School where she was a staff writer for School Life, the student newspaper for the Tulsa Public School system. She graduated from TU in 1966 with a bachelor’s degree in journalism and was editor of The Collegian during her college years. After graduation, she packed her bags and left for Pakistan, where she studied international relations as a Fulbright Scholar at the University of Karachi. She received her law degree from TU in 1977.

Beale began her professional career in the communications department of Skelly Oil Co. in Tulsa, and later headed up the public affairs and government relations functions for Getty Oil Co. in Houston. She was active in the International Association of Business Communicators and holds the Public Relations Society of America’s Professional Accreditation. She also is a member of the Texas and American Bar Associations.

In the 1980s, Beale transitioned from the oil industry to the beverage industry, joining Coca-Cola as vice president of the company’s noncarbonated beverage division. She had a long and distinguished career with The Coca-Cola Co. and retired as Coca-Cola Foods Senior Vice President of Human Resources, Public Affairs and Administration.

Beale was recognized as a TU Distinguished Alumna in 2001, and she currently serves as a member of TU’s Board of Trustees. Following retirement from Coca-Cola, she has been president of her own management consulting firm in Houston and devotes much of her time to volunteer activities with The Nature Conservancy of Texas and the Houston Grand Opera, as well as her life-long goal of seeing the world and meeting new people.

Beale and her husband, Richard Anderson, live in Houston.
