The communication program’s liberal arts orientation equips students for a variety of professional opportunities in communication as well as graduate study in communication, law, business administration and other areas.
With the appropriate electives, students can prepare themselves for careers in media studies, organizational studies, public relations and advertising, journalism, visual communication and other related fields.
To supplement its curriculum, the Department of Communication supports several extracurricular activities so that students can gain hands-on media experience. TUTV, the student-produced cable television station, the TU student newspaper, The Collegian, and semester-long internships at media outlets, public relations firms, advertising agencies, nonprofit organizations all provide exposure to a variety of experiences in media.
Over the years, TU communication students have completed successful internships in Los Angeles, Chicago, Seattle, Dallas, St. Louis, Kansas City, Oklahoma City and other cities.
